O’Reilly Consulting (“we”, “us”) is a New Zealand business. We collect as little personal information as we can, and we handle what we do collect in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles.
# Information we collect
Contact form. When you use our contact form, we collect the details you provide: your name, email address, the subject line, and your message.
Technical information. Our web servers keep standard access logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type). We use these only to operate and secure the site.
We do not collect any other personal information through this website.
# How we use and store your information
We use contact form submissions to respond to your enquiry and to manage our communication with you. Submissions may be stored in our customer relationship management (CRM) system for those purposes.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
# Cookies
This site does not set tracking cookies. What we do use is a small amount of browser storage (localStorage — data kept by your browser on your device, not sent to our servers the way HTTP cookies are):
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
cookie-consent | Remembers your Accept/Decline choice on the consent banner | 12 months, then we ask again |
announcement-dismissed | Remembers that you closed a site announcement | Until your browser storage is cleared |
sveltia-cms.* | Sign-in session for site administrators (only used on the /admin editing screens) | Until sign-out |
If you choose Decline on the consent banner, everything non-essential stays off: no analytics or marketing scripts load. If we introduce such scripts in the future, they will load only after you have accepted.
You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser, after which the banner will ask again.
# Third-party services
Embedded videos are served through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which does not set tracking cookies unless you play a video. Google’s handling of that data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
We do not currently run any analytics on this site. If analytics are introduced, they will load only with your consent.
# Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you may ask us at any time for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Email us using the address below and we will respond promptly.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information or your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

# Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above. Significant changes (such as introducing analytics) will also reset the consent banner so you can choose again.
